In 1981, Bob Thompson was coaxed away from a gin rummy table and onto a golf course for the first time by some of his friends. He had resisted successfully for several years because as he said, "I don't have the time and the game seems to use a lot of it."
Today he plays to about a 14 handicap and loves the challenge of the game. As a result of this passion, he has constructed 9 premier golf courses in Indiana.
Thompson was a sportsman of a different kind for years. In 1968 he was the Unlimited Outboard Champion of the United States. He set a new world speed record while gaining the title. Bob relinquished the driver's seat after several close calls with possible disaster after racing boats at up to 140 mph for 20 years. He remained active by managing the United States in International Races in Europe for many years.
Today his company RNThompson, Inc. is one of the largest land development firms in the state of Indiana. |
